Well, Cole and I had a rather uneventful day today...we made just shy of $800, which made it a rather good business day, but we didn't see that mant people...it was just that the few people that came in, stayed for almost an hour and a half on average. It was cool though, because I got to read the adventures of the Silver Surfer from my hardcover Archives Volume 2 book. I share many views with the Surfer...being a philosopher in like, I see his comments on human condition as more than ramblings. In these particular issues, he is constantly attacked by those who are merely different than him in appearance. He was once human himself, but now has been encapsulated in a silver shell which protects him from heat, cold, and lack of oxygen. It also makes him appear quite alien among humans. He saves them time after time from various harms that would befall them, yet he always incurs their wrath rather than their thanks. It recalls another rather revealing book by Alan Moore...a issue of Swamp Thing. In it, a movie is to be produced at an antebellum mansion, yet the ghosts of those who lived there in Civil War times still linger, wanting returibution for the way they died and were treated at the plantation during its heyday. The white folks and black folks immediately begin disagreeing with each other, and one black actor is insulted by a line he must read...he feels degraded by partaking in such an action, yet he does it. The white star of the film is beseiged by visions of himself in plantation garments, whipping the black lead for falling in love with his white co-star. He tries to dismiss these dreams, but in the end, he gives into the delusion and is subsequentally devoured by the spirits. It is a great tale...it speaks volumes about human behavior. If you dig my rather bumbling plot synopsis, check out Swamp Thing #41 from October 1985, from DC Comics. I need to go, but I have began to reach out again into deep philosophical thinking, so look for more on subjects like this during the week. Sam, I miss you:) Have as good time
Love to you all,
Heath
