Hey guys and gals. I'm gonna give you two (very) different posts back to back, this one detailing my...interesting night on ASOP last night. This will be a form of cartharsis, allowing me to deal with what happened, as it was rather disturbing emotionally.
Everything seemed to be going well for a Friday night at the 'SOP, but when prompted by a fellow MHT for turning around and looking at a peer, one kid just went into a frenzy. Within 30 seconds, an MAB (Verbal Deescalation/Show of Force) was implemented on him, but that just made him angrier. When it was decided that a takedown maneuever was necessary, it took myself plus 6 others to pin him to the ground and put him in the restraints. In the process, my glasses were slapped off my face and landed on the floor. I picked them up and placed them on a table next to me while we took him into the Quiet room. Before the takedown was initiated, he threw two rather-heavy chairs, loosening the cushion on one of them and flipped a HEAVY table on its side. I tried to talk him down, telling him to make the right choice...he stated that he was, and he didn't care what happened to him. Later on, he told me he was sorry that he hurt me, to which I replied "No, don't be sorry. I'm fine and it was something you needed to get off your chest. Just don't hold all that in the next time."
He's essentially a good kid who just can't accept criticism. I'll be praying for him tonight, and i hope you will also.
